PHP Benchmark: Calculate loop length in advance
0As shown and tested on www.phpbench.com, calculating the size of your loop in advance can be a huge performance boost. Makes sense of course, still the nature of PHP could lead you to believe that there’s an optimization in place, even if there’s little sound logic supporting it.

Improving Windows searches with Indexing Options
0The Windows 7 omni-search-run bar is great at reducing icon clutter and much more, however when one has his own directory structure for applications, say c:\apps\dev, c:\apps\security, … Windows won’t automatically add those folders to its indexing plan. The other problem is locations like /Users and download dumps can create bogus results.
Here’s where Indexing Options show their strength. The Indexing Options FAQ at Microsoft’s website explains how to customize your search index.
Typing Indexing Options in the search bar should bring up the settings panel and after selecting “Modify” new location and exclusion rules can be set.
SSH Client for Windows & Aimp3
0Two quick app shout-outs.
My favourite OpenSSH implementation for Windows can be found at sourceforge. It’s the simplest and thus best ssh client for windows I’ve found.
Second shout-out goes to the developers of Aimp. Version 3′s looking awesome and the new skin’s nothing to scoff at either. RIP Winamp, you bloated relic of the past. More about Aimp3 at their official site.
