Got an open mind?
Love random violence, lesbians, vampires and b-flicks?
Jesus Christ – Vampire Hunter
…is here to save the day!
Well that sounds like some lame ass trailer, but dang I re watched the film recently and loved it yet again.
The one thing you gotta get past is the $40.000 budget and really crappy sound quality, with b-grade acting. But if you’re capable of overcoming your prejudice you’re in for one Hell of a ride!
Looking back on the experience, the scary guy in the hedge dragged me in, then the bad sound quality overcame me, but after a while I got used to it and was finally able to enjoy the flick in all it’s b-grade glory.
The flick actually has lovable characters and you start caring for Jesus, Santos heck Mrs. Magnum as well. Fun, funny, crazy, wacky, lesbians and inspired are a few more words to throw into the pot, making it Jesus Christ – Vampire Hunter. Not to mention some bigot indoctrinated christian loonies might throw a fit watching it.
And a few favourite screenies:

Must-see-s:
Slumdog Millionare ( iMDB )
Genre: Crime | Drama | Romance

The premise revolves around the story of an indian boy from the slums of Mumbai, his brother and a girl called Latika all of which are orfened at a preteen age, relying soley on each other to survive the cruel reality of Mumbai. The story is great and shocking as reality usually is, the characters stink of reality and they’re far from black and white, with a great music score making this flick a well deserved overall winner of the 2008 Oscars.
Oldboy ( iMDB )
Genre: Mystery | Thriller | Drama

One of the best Korean films and they’ve produced basket full of great movies in the last two decades. It’s a great mystery mindfuck, with a fair serving of comedy, drama and suspense. The scenography and camera work are splendid and there’s no reason to skip this movie.
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off ( iMDB )
Genre: Comedy

A relaxing comedy about 3 friends who’re taking it easy. Great movie.
Adams æbler ( iMDB )
Genre: Comedy | Drama

A self proclaimed evil nazi finds himself in a small dannish village in the care of the local pastor, who’s already taking care of an extreme pakistani with a personal jihad on the national gas company and an obese ex-tennis player.
All the characters are uniquely absurd and all too real at the same time.
Day of the Wacko ( iMDB )
Genre: Comedy | Drama

Day of the Wacko is a polish movie about a man, who hates his life and other people, including himself suffering from compulsive disorder, with great and funny insight about life.
Teeth ( iMDB )
Genre: Comedy | Horror

A new kind of b-horror, that’s really high quality prodution and content-wise with self-referenced humor and divided between the absurdity of the real and imaginary.
Maybe-s:
Valkyre: Not that bad of a historic movie, but don’t expect a Tom Cruise action flick.
Not-ies:
Role Models It’s just meh.

Leon The Professional ( iMDB )
Genre: Action / Drama / Comedy

Loli Natalie Portman, Gary Fucking Oldman, Luc Besson and packed with action, awesome mesmerizing scenes, lovable protagonists and unforced laughs.
Waltz with Bashir ( iMDB )
Genre: Animation / Documentary

A thought provoking surrealistic hebrew documentary with a unique presentation style using animation. The documentary deals with memories and war amongst other things, with the stories and memories of several Israeli soldiers that served during the 1982 Israeli invasion of Lebanon.
Religulous ( iMDB )
Genre: Documentary / Comedy

A humor packed documentary by Bill Maher on his views on Religion. Bill drives around the world asking people of different religions why they believe and how they can explain the rediciouls ideas of religions.
Stephen Fry in America ( iMDB )
Genre: Documentary / Comedy

Stephen Fry travels through 50 states of the U.S. and meets several interesting inhabitants in each of them. Not your avarage everyday view of America, fun, full of whacky encounters and Fryish humor.
Rashomon ( iMDB )
Genre: Action / Drama / Comedy

Proof that movies can whitstand the test of time and technological advancement. Roshomon simply kept me glued to the screen, with it’s classical (can’t get around using the word it seems) study of human honesty, perspective and reason for living.
Tropic Thunder ( iMDB )
Genre: Action / Comedy

I loved most of the characters and Robert Downey Jr. Quite a few of the jokes strike home as well and offer a good laugh with it’s absurd yet not too over the top story.
Wristcutters: A Love Story ( iMDB )
Genre: Comedy / Drama / Fantasy

An entertaning ride through a made-up afterlife for people who comitted suicide.
Princess Bride ( iMDB )
Genre: Comedy / Adventure / Fantasy

Scaling the Cliffs of Insanity, Battling Rodents of Unusual Size, Facing torture in the Pit of Despair. – True love has never been a snap. Couldn’t have said it better myself.
5 Centimeters per Second ( iMDB )
Genre: Comedy / Drama / Fantasy

Awesome animation, captivating story and characters, coupled with a great sad love story.
Maybe-s:
Body of Lies: A cliche action, but it’s not a bad way to pass time.
Burn After Reading: Crazy little flick that doesn’t hide it’s own “flaws”.
Curious Case of Benjamin Button: Titanic for the next generation.
El Topo: Absurd and crazy, be ready for sodomy.
Gomorra: A good take on a great book.
Not-ies:
Death Note The Movies (3 parts) Watch the anime series instead.
Righteous Kill: Just another hollythriller.
The Day the Earth Stood Still: Just sad.
